1.4 Assessment within biogeographical regions
1.4.1 The Atlantic Biogeographical Region
The nine European biogeographical regions recognised by the
Directive, as amended by agreement with the Standing Committee of
the Bern Convention (Emerald Network), form an important part of
the framework for the evaluation of sites at a European level. The
UK falls entirely within the Atlantic Biogeographical Region
(Figure 1.1).
