Environmental Governance & Information

The specific objectives of the LIFE Environmental Governance and Information priority area are:

  • to promote awareness raising on environmental matters and to promote knowledge on sustainable development and new patterns for sustainable consumption;
  • to support communication, management and dissemination of environmental information and to facilitate knowledge sharing on successful environmental solutions and best practice;
  • to promote and contribute to more effective compliance with and enforcement of European Union environmental legislation, in particular by promoting the development and dissemination of best practice and policy approaches; and
  • to promote better environmental governance by broadening stakeholder involvement in consultation on and implementation of policy.


The LIFE Environmental Governance & Information strand covers the below thematic areas:

  • Environment and health, including chemicals and noise
  • Nature and Biodiversity
  • Governance and enforcement
